Member Categories
Individual
Individual development professional who have paid the annual individual membership fee. These individuals should be actively working in international development and providing their services as individuals or sole proprietors, not the owners or partners in firms or employees of a CAIDP Corporate Member. Each individual member may attend meetings of Members, in person or via telecom and exercise one (1) vote in respect to each matter, in person, over telecom, or by proxy, which may come before meetings of Members. Individuals may run for election to the Board of Directors of CAIDP.
Corporate
Organizations — for profit, not for profit, or academic, involved in international development, which have paid the appropriate annual corporate membership fee. Each corporate member is entitled to appoint two (2) representatives – each one with one (1) vote – to attend and act on behalf of the corporation to meetings of Members. Attendance and voting options are the same as for individuals. Note that one representative can carry the proxy vote of the other. Corporate members can nominate a person to run for election to the Board of Directors of CAIDP.
Associate
Individuals who are interested in international development but not actively working full- or part-time in providing services as an international development professional; or who are employed by an organization or institution that is a Corporate member of CAIDP, can become associate members by paying the associate membership fee. Each associate member may attend meetings of Members but cannot exercise a vote in respect to matters which may come before meetings of Members, nor can they run for election to the Board of Directors.
Student
Students who are interested in international development, have a valid student ID card and are enrolled in an education program may purchase student memberships in the association. Each student member may attend meetings of Members but cannot exercise a vote in respect to matters which may come before meetings of Members, nor can they run for election to the Board of Directors.

Savings of up to $5,000 per year: on insurance, DEVEX, DevAID, OECD-DAC iLibrary, travel, hotels and much more including registration for CAIDP events (when fees are charged) and priority registration periods for limited events
Ethics
CAIDP members must subscribe to the Code of Conduct and members regularly review and update the Code to respond to new challenges.
A voice on international development issues
CAIDP provides an inclusive sector-wide voice on key international development issues, with individual members ranging from students to seasoned professionals and corporate members from academia and the for and non profit sectors.
Access to jobs and professional information
All CAIDP members get a subscription to the CAIDP-Hub which provides READ and WRITE access to Canada’s largest international development listserv (over 1,300 subscribers) which posts notices of jobs, events, training and more.
All members have access to the JobBANK and Corporate members can post job opportunities free on the JobBANK on the website (over 3,000 visitors per month) and social media (reaching over 2,000).
Networking opportunities
CAIDP members also enjoy opportunities for knowledge sharing and networking including participating in CAIDP events, volunteering on CAIDP Committees, and posting on the CAIDP website including professional profiles and articles, news and commentary on the interactive blogs and forums.
Member-only content
More than half the material on our website is created by and for our members, and member content is given priority in our Quarterly CAIDP Bulletins, listserv, website and programming.
Corporate members can also promote their events and other content on the CAIDP website and social media. Member registration is prioritized for our events and webinars.
Participation
Members guide CAIDP’s activities and priorities by participating in the Annual General meeting and by nominating and voting on candidates for the Board of Directors.
Membership is very inexpensive and you can more than recoup your costs:
Student Members — $25
Associate Members — $70
Individual Members — $200
Corporate Members — $330 to $550

In fact, members get significantly more information than subscribers including the CAIDP Quarterly Bulletin, enhanced posting rights on both the listserv and the website, access to a lot of members only information on the website and members only messages on important news.
YES, CAIDP Members get a broad range of benefits, which offer potential savings that can largely offset the cost of membership. You can read more about the type of benefits here.
CAIDP members benefit from a lower conference fee.
YES if you become a Corporate member, your firm and website link will be included on the “Corporate Members” web page. You will also be able to edit/update it as you wish once you log in into your profile.
If you are an individual member you can post your profile as well.
One other difference is that each corporate member is entitled to appoint two (2) representatives – each one with one (1) vote – to attend and act on behalf of the corporation to meetings of Members. As a corporate member you will also be able to post any job opportunities on the CAIDP website in addition to being able to post it to the listserv that goes to over 1,100 subscribers.
Otherwise, as CAIDP is run by its member-volunteers, benefits depend a lot of your involvement in CAIDP activities. As a corporate member, you will benefit from networking with other corporate members.
CAIDP is also often asked for representatives from the industry to attend consultations with the government and IFI, the UN, etc. We usually recommend our corporate members be invited.
As many tenders look with favor on membership in a professional association, all paid up members are welcome to mention their CAIDP membership in their promotional materials, for example by including the phrase:
“Member Canadian Association of International Development Professionals (CAIDP)”
and/or
“I/we adhere to the CAIDP Professional Code of Conduct”.
